Air Blast Coolers

Product Overview

The EDG range of the Ecodrygel fluid coolers is designed to cool many industrial processes, with little or no water consumed and minimal electricity. As a matter of fact, they are able to cool water by means of a simple heat transfer to the ambient air, offering great cooling capacity.

The EDG range is available in three versions:
- dry
-evaporative (E) (up to EDG1200)
-adiabatic (A)
-adiabatic and self-draining

The evaporative (E) and adiabatic (A) version allows the humidification of ambient air before this reaches the surface of the aluminium pack, leaving it completely dry and avoiding any scale from building on the foils.

The adiabatic and self-draining version, when the ambient temperature drops below 32°F and the plant is not running, or in case of power shortage, the water contained in the copper pipes is automatically drained with no need of valves whatsoever, thus avoiding any freezing with subsequent pipe damage. This feature allows the use of simple water inside the EDG with no addition of anti-freeze fluids such as glycol, with 3 important advantages:
- zero impact on the environment;
- a higher cooling capacity, as glycol remarkably reduces the heat transfer coefficient;
- the possibility of being used also for applications where contact with glycol is not tolerated.

The EDG features fan with brushless motors and control of the speed of revolution. Compared to 'step' control or TRIAC, the use of brushless fans permit:
- a more quiet operation;
- increased reliability and durability;
- more than 30% reduction in power consumption;
- The EDG works in "CLOSED CIRCUIT", thus eliminating problems connected with scale and water contamination.

The EDG is a self-contained machine that can be linked with other units thanks to its modular design. This enables easy and cost-effective future capacity expansions at any time.

It is available in 13 models with a cooling capacity ranging from 17 to 340 tonnes for each unit.
